Anduud City in Dire Financial Shape, Players Not Paid

It seems like Anduud City FC, who only a few years ago seemed poised to become a top club in the Mongolian Premier League and has seemed to have several large corporate sponsorship partners, has an uncertain future as new investors have taken over the club amid financial hardship. The story first came to light a few days ago when former Anduud City defender and MPL veteran Alim Zumakulov (above) posted a letter online to the Mongolian Football Federation president Ganbaatar Amgalanbaatar about pay that he and at least two other Russian teammates had not received since the close of the 2019 season on 26 October. 2020 Mongolian Football Calendar Released

The full 2020 calendar of events in Mongolian football has been revealed. As usual, the season will open with the annual Super Cup match. This year's contest will see league Champions Ulaanbaatar City FC face Erchim FC, who won the league cup in 2019. The match will be played on 4 April 2020. Only a day later, the 2020 MPL season will commence. This season will once again include an 18-match regular season and 4-match promotion/relegation series. The regular season will conclude on 13 September with the promotion/relegation series wrapping up on 18 October. The opening round of the MFF Cup will take place on 23/24 May. 2019 Golden Ball Awards Winners Announced

Image property of the MFF The annual Mongolian Football Federation Golden Ball Awards ceremony was held at the State Opera and Ballet Theatre in Ulaanbaatar on 12 December 2019. Ulaanbaatar City FC Learns Potential AFC Cup Path

Image property of Ulaanbaatar City FC On 10 December 2019 Ulaanbaatar City FC learned its first-ever AFC Cup opponent and possible route to the group stage as the draw was held at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Ulaanbaatar City will enter qualification in Preliminary Round 2. The club will face the runners-up of the Taiwan Football Premier League Taipower FC. UB City will open the two-leg series at home on February 5 before playing the return leg at the National Stadium in Kaohsiung seven days later. Deren FC Hires Portuguese Coach

Image property of Deren FC Earlier this week it was announced that Mongolian Premier League club Deren FC has hired Portuguese head coach Paulo Jorge Silva to lead the team for the next three season. The 47-year-old becomes the first Portuguese coach in Mongolian footballing history. He began his career coaching at the academy of German club VFB Stuttgart. From there his coaching career has taken him to eight countries on three continents before landing in Mongolia. He has also coached in Austria, England, Costa Rica, Nigeria, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
