UB City Takes Bronze in Radio Sibir Cup

Today the 2017 Radio Sibir Cup concluded with Ulaanbaatar City FC taking the bronze medal for the three-day tournament. The tournament was sponsored by Russian Professional Football League club FC Chita.
The club arrived in Chita, Siberia, Russia on 13 December, one day prior to the tournament's opening round of matches. The Mongolian club won its opening match at FC Chita's Lokomotiv Stadium by a score of 3-1 with Tserenbayar scoring two goals for his side and Tugsbileg adding the other. Defender Otgonbayar Oyunbaatar tallied two assists in the victory.
Two days later the club took the field for the next round of matches. They won all of their fixtures and finished the group stage without a loss in four matches. Following the second matchday, Tugsbileg had tallied 2 goals and 3 assists; Tserenbayar scored 1 goal; Tsedenbal notched 4 goals; Lkhagvasuren added one goal; and Ankhbayar registered 3 assists.
The tournament concluded two days later with Ulaanbaatar City FC winning its match against SKA 3-1 with Lkhagvasuren scoring two of the team's goals. The team was eliminated by the team from Chita by a score of 0-1 in its next match, securing the tournament's bronze medal.
Noorjmoogiin Tsebendal took home individual honours, winning the tournament's best player award.
The tournament marks at least the second time that Ulaanbaatar City FC has been involved in Russian football this offseason. Earlier the club's owner Dashnyam Ganzorig traveled to the region to discuss a partnership and player development with general director Vladimir Ivanovich Kurulinenko and manager Ilya Kungurov of FC Zenit Irkutsk of the Russian third division.
