Today Selengepress FC announced that they have signed American defender John Walrath for the 2018 season.
Walrath was identified as a top prospect by Tim Guercio, Goyo FC player and MFF representative, during his Premier League combines held in the United States.
Walrath was one of six players to who have traveled to Mongolia and are currently on trial with FC Ulaanbaatar, Goyo FC, Erchim FC, and Athletic 220 FC.
Walrath impressed the club enough to be offered a contract after only a week in training.
The 22-year-old (born October 25, 1995) formerly played college soccer in the United States for the Appalachian State Mountaineers. Over his four seasons with the team, he amassed 69 caps and 2 goals.
During college he also played for the reserves of the Premier Development League's Carolina Dynamo and the youth team of Itayuru Missiones in Paraguay.
Following graduation, he spent summer 2017 in Paraguay again, this time playing for the first team of Itayuru Missiones and for Libertad FC's U21 development academy.
