On 29 July Khovd FC announced that the club had been purchased by a new owner while simultaneously revealing a new logo. The new owner, B. Bat-Erdene, was educated in Japan and has been involved in sports for many years.

The club announced that a change in management would also occur, unveiling multi-time top manager award-winner Garidmagnai Bayasgalan as head coach and former Khaan Khun-Erchim assistant Enkhbayarin Chinbaatar for the roles.

The team has also already begun to rebuild its roster, adding national team goalkeeper Saikhanchuluun Amarbayasgalan and all-time top Mongolian striker Nyam-Osor Naranbold, among others.

Khovd FC represents the city of Khovd from the province of the same name. It was founded in 2018 and began play in the First League that season. Following four seasons in the second tier, it won its first championship and promotion in 2021. The club's first season in the Premier League was disappointing, earning a 9th-place finish and avoiding relegation only via a walkover victory over Khökh Chononuud in their playoff series.

With an ambitious new owner, could we see a new powerhouse in Mongolian football?
