Mongolians Abroad: Three More Young Mongolians Turning Heads

In the past several years, more and more Mongolians are playing football abroad. Although the only player to break into the senior national team so far is Ganbold Ganbayar, its a matter of time before the current youth players transition into the senior team.

Here are three short bios of players fans will hear much more about in the coming years.

1. Without a doubt the most interesting player on this list is current SK Rapid Wien field player Tamir Tengis. The 11-year-old began his career in with Deren FC in Mongolia in 2018. That year he competed abroad in Russia with the club's U8 side.

Just one year later, Tengis's family moved to Austria. The following March he joined SV Güssing. He impressed scouts with the club and soon he moved to record champions SK Rapid Wien in July 2020. 2021/2022 was a breakout season for the offensive player. He participated in U10 tournaments in Germany and Poland against the academies of clubs such as Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Dinamo Zagreb, Porto, Juventus, Barcelona, and Stoke City. Across all competitions he scored over forty goals and was named captain of the side. The club finished fourth in Austria's U12 league that season.

2. Perhaps the most recognizable name on the list is Anand Naranbat. Anand, a youth product of Deren FC, was one of two players chosen by Hungary's Puskas Akademia for a year-long residency in 2022. Since at least September 2022 the player has been part of the U19 side of FC Champel of Switzerland's Youth League A, part of the Geneva Canton Football Association. The left-back wears number 13 at the club. Switzerland is known for its expansive football league system which means that Anand will have many opportunities to advance.

3. Third on the list is Latino-Mongolian goalkeeper Samuel Ramirez Batchuluun. The 14-year-old is currently in the academy of Deportivo Alaves who are now in the Spanish second division after being relegated from La Liga last season. Previously he played for the academy of Colombian giants Millonarios FC. Not much information is available about the player other than some skills clips on Youtube. However, fans should expect to hear more about him in the coming years.
