With no official announcement from the league or Mongolian Football Federation, the start date for the second half of the 2025-2026 season has quietly been postponed.

The league was set to resume the 7th of March, but players have been informed that it has been postponed until at least sometime in April. The exact reasons for the delay are unclear, but players indicate that continued conflicts between the clubs, league, and highly unpopular MFF President Ts. Anandbazar have caused the delay.

Last summer, the league was suspended for over a month before the federation and clubs found a way to move forward with matches after clubs made allegations against Anandbazar including corruption, mismanagement, and other serious crimes.

The first half of the 25/26 season started out rocky with long-time MPL powerhouse Erchim FC refusing its place in the league the day before kickoff because of disputes with the MFF executives. The remainder of the first half of the season continued without serious issues, aside from matches that were postponed and rescheduled for the spring season for unspecified reasons.

The Mongolian Premier League is not the only competition affected, as the start date for the First Division has also been postponed to an unspecified date. Youth football and futsal competitions appear to be unaffected.

Similarly men's senior international football in the country has ground to a halt with no matches played in over eighteen months. While it seems the whole world will be active in international fixtures in the next few days, Mongolia is one of the very few nations with nothing on the schedule. After several years of steady progress and growth of football in Mongolia, the current MFF leadership has stopped momentum completely and has set back the sport in the country at least 5-8 years.
