MPL Scoring Champ Joins Bangladeshi Club

On 23 November 2021 Mongolian Premier League scoring champion Tetsuaki Misawa put pen to paper for Bangladesh Premier League club Muktijoddha Sangsad KC. He leaves BCH after one very productive campaign.

The 21-year-old Japanese forward came out of nowhere last season, tallying 17 goals and 5 assists for a BCH Lions club that struggled to score during its first season in the top flight. He has already made an impact at his new club, scoring three goals in the group stage of the yearly Independence Cup. He was joint top scorer in the tournament following the opening stage. League play for the upcoming season will begin in January 2022.

It became clear that Misawa would not remain with BCH Lions for the 2022 season shortly after the 2021 season wrapped. Bangladesh was mentioned by the player in an interview with MFC as a potential destination, along with Cambodia and Singapore. BCH Lions was the player's first significant club experience after joining from the Kanagawa University team of the 2nd Division of the Kanto University Soccer League.

Muktijoddha Sangsad KC finished 10th in the 13-team Premier League last season. The Dhaka-based club has played in the BPL since the league's inaugural season in 2007. It was national champions in 2003; federation cup winners on three occasions; and two-time champion of the Dhaka Premier League. It has made two appearances each in the AFC Cup, AFC Champions League, and AFC Cup Winners Cup.
