On 7 January 2022 it was announced that Naranbold Nyam-Osor has terminated his contract with Athletic 220 FC.
The striker joined the club from Khoromkhon FC prior to the 2017 season. In addition to being the national team's joint all-time scorer, Nyam-Osor has won countless awards during his time with the club including best goal and best male player in 2020. He was pivotal in Athletic 220's back-to-back league championships in 2020 and 2021 and 2018 Super Cup victory. He has incredibly been named to the League's Best XI every season from 2015 through 2021.
Naranbold made history with the club once again in 2021 as he scored the team's only goal in the group stage of the AFC Cup against Lee Man FC of Hong Kong.
So what will be the striker's next destination? It is unlikely that he would leave the club for another in Mongolia. Many have speculated for years that Nyam-Osor has the ability to play abroad. Further adding to the speculation is that he is now represented by TopSport Serbia meaning a move to Eastern Europe is possible. However, even playing in another Asian nation will see the player experience a higher level of play and important new experiences.
While many fans would have liked to see Nyam-Osor, who turns 30 years old in February, go abroad earlier in his career, his will still be an interesting journey to follow and an important step for Mongolian players hoping to play abroad.
