SP Falcons Sign Italian Defender Russo

On 23 February 2022 SP Falcons officially signed 23-year-old versatile defender Rosario Mattia Russo for the remainder of the season.

In 2005 the Italian began his career with Ancona-Matelica, currently of the Serie C, at age 6. He went on to spend over 15 years with the club.

In June 2020 he made the move to Spain, joining SP Herrera of the Regionale Extremadura, the 7th tier league in the country. He remained with Herrera until November 2021. He transferred to Sweden for a brief stint with Ytterhogdals IK of the country's fourth tier, the Division 2 Norrland, in January 2022.

Two games into the season SP Falcons sit in a 3-way tie at the top of the table. Russo, who is looking for his first top-flight experience, comes to reinforce a squad that has yet to concede a single goal so far.
